Making a Claim

We're here to help you through the process, from notification to settlement. And despite popular belief, insurers do want to pay valid claims — subject to the policy wording.

In an Emergency

Safety first — call 111 if anyone is in danger. Once safe, take reasonable steps to prevent further loss (e.g. shut off water, secure a vehicle) and keep any receipts.

Three Things to Avoid

  • Don't admit fault or liability — state the facts, let the insurer decide.
  • Don't start permanent repairs or dispose of damaged property until authorised.
  • Don't settle or engage lawyers directly without talking to us first.

Timeframes vary claim to claim — lodgement in particular can be affected by insurer response times and how quickly all the required information is provided.
